Charting Examples using actual COVID-19 Statistics – Pie Chart

 

Enter the following table into Excel:

 

Highlight the range A2:B10. Click Insert, Recommended Charts, and select Pie Chart.

 

A pie chart is a statistical graphic, which is divided into slices which represent numerical proportion.

 

The chart left as the above is still not providing the user with enough information.

 

Add chart elements, Data labels and select Outside end.

 

However, the legend is still not making the chart easy to read.

 

Add chart elements, Data labels and select More data label options. On the right hand pane. Tick the box next to Category name. Therefore the category name and the value appears next to the pie slice.

 

You can now click on the legend below and delete this as all the details are shown on the pie chart.
