How to calculate the present value (PV) of a monetary amount

 

Requirement:

 

 

Solution:

 

1. Click in cell B6 (PV).

2. In the toolbar click insert function (fx).  This will open the insert function dialog box.

3. Select the category Financial then click the function PV and click ok for the functions dialog box to open.

4. The cursor ill be in the Rate argument field of the functions argument dialog box.  click the Rate value inn your worksheet (cell B3).  The interest rate will be entered.

5. Click in the Nper function argument field and then click the Nper value in your worksheet (cell B4).

6. Click in the FV argument field, and then click the FV value in your worksheet (cell B5).

7. Click OK
