Dynamic Named Ranges

BUY | Excel Named Range Add-in Manager Start

The Dynamic Ranges page is arguably the add-ins most powerful and useful feature. Dynamic Named Ranges are ranges that will expand/contract according to the data in the range. The great part about this is your named ranges will only include those cells that house data. This makes them ideal for Pivot Tables, Charts, Validation Lists, and restricting formula calculations.

There are 8 different types of Dynamic Ranges you can create;

  1. Numbers Only: The range will expand/contract as many rows or columns as there are numeric cells (cells housing numbers) in your Lead Column, or Row of your specified specified range.
  2. Text and Numbers: The range will expand/contract as many rows or columns as there are text and numeric cells (cells housing numbers or text) in your Lead Column, or Row of your specified specified range.
  3. Last Text Entry: The range will expand/contract to the last row or column, of your Lead Column, or Row, that houses text. The great one about this is you can have blank cells between your entries.
  4. Last Numeric Entry: The range will expand/contract to the last row or column, of your Lead Column, or Row, that houses a number. The great one about this is you can have blank cells between your entries.
  5. Monthly: The range will expand/contract one row or column per month up to 12. This one is ideal for charts and Pivot Tables that need updating only once per month. Set your dynamic range, use it in your chart or Pivot Table reference and leave it for the year. Your chart will update automatically the 1st day of each month!
  6. Weekly: The range will expand/contract one row or column per week up to 52. This one is also ideal for charts Pivot Tables that need updating only once per week. Set your dynamic range, use it in your chart or Pivot Table reference and leave it for the year. Your chart will update automatically the first day of each week!
  7. Day of Month: The range will expand/contract one row or column per day for any month, max of 31. This one is also ideal for monthly charts or Pivot Tables that need updating only once per day of each month. Set your dynamic range, use it in your chart or Pivot Table reference and leave it.  Your chart will update automatically each day of each month.
  8. Linked to Single Cell: The range will expand/contract one row or column according to the number you have in your specified Linked Cell. This makes the Linked to Single Cell choice one of the most generic and flexible.
