Hi,
I'm really not reaching good results with the hack #73 with the formula
=SUBSTITUTE(IF(RIGHT(TRIM(A1))="-",RIGHT(TRIM(A1))&A1,A1),"-","",2)+0
Can you help me with that?
Thanks in advance,
António Martins

Re: Sap Negative Values
Hi
can you give more details? Perhaps a very small file can show the problem?
Re: Sap Negative Values
Here's an exemple, as shown in the book, i suppose. I don't understand why it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Is this because the -ve numbers have a trailing -?
If so what version of Excel are you using?
If it's 2002 as indicated then you should try Data>Text to columns..., I believe that version has an option for trailing minuses.
Re: Sap Negative Values
I'm using Ms Office Excel 2003 SP2...
Re: Sap Negative Values
How can i eventually adapt the above formula to get that efect on right-signed negative values?

Did you try my suggestion of Data>Text to columns...?
Re: Sap Negative Values
Hey norie it worked !!!
In the 'text to column' i found an option to move the "-" sign to the left and 'voila'... problem solved.
I really thanks your help norie
