Consolidate data from multiple workbooks to one Master Workbook, Code Error

  • Hi friends,

In my macro file produced wrong results. values are produced correctly up to 3 items. if i add more items (up to 5 or 6 items), produced wrong values at "MasterData" Sheet.

what are the errors in my code? please make as a perfect code or make a fresh code.

    Thanks in advance.

You need to explain the steps to reproduce the error.

    Dear sir,
thank you for asking questions. please observe my problem with code at post#1.i need process as per attached pic. please find. with my code producing wrong and merging data while doing as per attached pic procedure.are you checked my code? please fix the errors or modify the existing code.

    Thanks.

  • Re: Consolidate data from multiple workbooks to one Master Workbook, Code Error

I have no idea what you mean by that, but it doesn't describe how to replicate the error.

why my post is not solved?

Sending private messages to other members questioning why your post has not been solved is a little counter-productive. No one is obliged to answer any questions and no question is guaranteed to be answered. People tend to avoid when comments like that are chucked into the mix.

If you really must have a solution then consider posting in the Hire Help forum, noting the conditions of posting in that forum first.

Well nice questioning job friend instead of providing solutions.keep it up. i have observing from my 1st post. you asked only questions without providing solutions.

and every time demanding about "Hire Help" i think this is not a correct way. kindly try to solve questions in this forum instead of asking questions one after one.

    Thank you.

If you gave the information necessary to resolve an issue it would be extremely helpful - but you continue to post vague messages (post #1 in this thread is a prime example) that defy any attempt to provide a sensible answer. The only option is to ask questions.

I will accept criticism from you when you can honestly claim to contribute to the forum rather than just take. In the meanwhile, one often used feature on forums is the Ignore button...

i have already provided exact data against your questions.

i have described as, i have 3 different files, those are file1,file2, and file3. and i need to copy from those 3 files with different data range as shown in post#5 and these range data paste to one Target file (destination file) at "Masterdata" sheet name as described at post#5.

  • Re: Consolidate data from multiple workbooks to one Master Workbook, Code Error

with reference to your PM, i confirmed you are applied revenge upon me.due to criticizing.

this is not correct way. you should guide for new users. dont do like that.

your main attention is point out pin to pin points instead of solving users posts. then why asking questions regarding my posts without solving my post.you are not share single your code attempt.only asking questions.if you not able to take challenge please dont waste my time for asking un useful questions.

  • Re: Consolidate data from multiple workbooks to one Master Workbook, Code Error

Last word on this... At times questions are inevitable because the post is not clear or does not give enough detail about the data. Compare your post #1 with post #1 in this thread Both are vague with no specific information.

Now compare the results when [sensible] questions are answered in a sensible way. Result? Someone has working code, someone else doesn't.

And the infraction is not 'revenge' - it is recorded in a private forum so anyone with the right permissions can see your posting history at a glance.

This, also, is not 'revenge' - I have no interest in trying to resolve your problem for the simple reason that you have never explained it clearly enough. Your 'explanation' in post #5 was simply to refer to post #1 which contains no information other than "if i add more items (up to 5 or 6 items), produced wrong values at "MasterData" Sheet". How you ever expected anyone to answer that without the benefit of seeing the code or your workbook is beyond me.

Had to stop myself falling off the chair laughing at that - no one could "take challenge" based on the information in your first post so questions were inevitable.

I also do want want to hear from any other members that you sent them private messages demanding to know why your issue has not been resolved.

Goodbye, but welcome to my Ignore list.

Structo, I can close this thread as requested in your PM to me. I don't normally do moderating chores as I am usually more interested in helping. There is really no need though as threads eventually die off if no one posts to it in a few days.

Of course if you want to mark this solved, even though it is not, you can do that yourself though not normally done in this forum. Some vbBulletin forums allow that by editing the first post and selecting Solved from the Thread Tools link. You can sort of do that by selecting your first post and prefix the Subject/Title of the thread with (Solved).

Cytop, I seldom read posts when you are helping as you most always have great solutions. Obviously, you have helped way more people than I have. I did get a kick out of reading your signature link. It does point out that language barriers and grammar can be communication barriers but should not stop those that want to help if they can figure out was the problem is and what the goal should be. It is all about problem solving skills where defining the problem, find out what the knowns/givens are (by code, or workbook, or images, etc.), and what the goal/solution should look like.

I never looked at this thread much since cytop was helping and the details of the "error" were never clearly defined. My guess is that the code as posted would overwrite data. e.g. Copy a A1:B2 to another sheet's A1 and then A3:B4 to that other sheet's A2. Obviously, A2 and B2 from the previious 2x2 matrix is overwritten by the 2nd copy. Sometimes it is best to make a 2nd workbook and show result "error" on sheet1 and a manual "correct" result on sheet2.

Structo, I would like to point out that you should keep an open mind. Cytop views other forums like I do I suspect in the hope that we can not only help someone but learn something along the way too. Don't take "infractions" too hard. You are obviously learning how to post. Some forum helpers and/or moderators are more strict than others. It is not necessarily a bad thing but can hurt new user's feelings. Even a veteran can take rebuffs a little too much to heart, sometimes. Just learn from those and move on. I often ask 2 or 3 questions before I even attempt a solution. I don't like wasting time on a solution when I know that the user never considered some issues.

  • Re: Consolidate data from multiple workbooks to one Master Workbook, Code Error

My language skills must be slipping - I didn't ask any questions in this thread. Not one. Oh, OK. Let's be pedantic. I asked 2 rhetorical questions, both answered by myself. But, the issue of me asking questions rather than providing a solution, is made out to be the problem.

Apologies Kenneth, I do not accept this is a 'Language Barrier' - The OP, in my opinion (Note the my opinion, not that of OzGrid, its management, employees, associates or any volunteer, or indeed any other person, registered on this forum), is exactly the sort of poster described in that link.

I will not withdraw that statement. If anyone has a problem with that, then this post will have to be edited to remove it.

The thread has been closed. I don't expect another thread to continue this will be opened.
