Extracting text from string
Would like to extract the last word after the last slash in the string.
North America/USA/California.
Thanks
Re: Extracting text from string
Try (assuming "North America/USA/California" in A1):
=RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-SEARCH("/",A1,SEARCH("/",A1)+1))
Best Regards
Re: Extracting text from string
Another one to extract after the last slush regardless of the number of slush.
=MID(A1,FIND("^",SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/","^",LEN(A1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/",""))))+1,255)
Re: Extracting text fro string
Post #3 here (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-general/…n-a-string.html) will do it, if you replace the '\' with '/'
Re: Extracting text fro string
Its a bit long because there are two /
String in A1
=RIGHT(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/","",1),LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/","",1))-SEARCH("/",SUBSTITUTE(A1,"/","",1)))
Re: Extracting text from string
Just in case you need an option to separate all of the string components you could perform a Text-to-Columns and specifiy the slash as the delimiter.
