  • how to name the named range with special character



    i am a beginner to excel and this forum as well.i want to name the set of ranges with special character (@) by that i wanted to achieve the dependent drop down list. since the 1st list consist data with special character (@) i have to have the named range with the special character (@)
    for example

    list1:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

    list2:if i select [email protected] data under the named range should be displayed

    the problem is i cant name ranges with [email protected] please help thanks in advance

    It simply cannot be done.

    Named ranges must begin with a Character (Alpha only) or underscore, cannot contain a space or just about any other non-alpha or non-numeric and cannot use one of the (many) Excel reserved words...

        Not too sure what is is you want to do... but might suggest a hidden column that simply trims the @ sign from the contents of the cell (=SUBSTITUTE(A1, "@", "") in B1 for example) and use that as the reference for the range.
