    Okay, so I'm working on the publishing and distribution of my huge automation project. For a number of reasons I have chosen to create a workbook with buttons that trigger the various automations. It also includes tabs with instructions for the various processes and such. I am not particularly concerned about users altering my code. And they got very scared when I used the phrase "add-in". This is the best way to go.

    Now I have one little idiot-proof I'd like to code in. When a user opens this particular file I'd like to prevent the "enable/disable macros" message from appearing at all. Instead I'd like to simply force the macros to be enabled and not let the user have any say in the matter.

    I'm sure this is easy to do, but need someone to point me in the right direction.

    Bad news i'm afraid kelly.

    The enable macros issue is part of Excel's inbuilt security & cannot be bypassed. Individual installations of Excel can alter the settings so that macros are automatically accepted - this ca be done by selecting Tools|Macros|security & setting the option from High or Medium to Low - but....it needs to be done for every potential user.... i.e. not a great solution...

      Even if there were a way to bypass Excel Security ( :wink1: ) you will not find it here. Apologies once more.

        Ah well, I will just have to trust my users (ack!) to know that when opening a file specifically created to hold macros they likely should click to enable them when they open the file. Sigh. The team as it stands is plenty competent enough to do this, but I'm envisioning future staff not quite as comfortable with Excel. Unlikely in the tax department of a large mutual fund company, but possible nonetheless.

          You can set the workbook to just display on sheet saying "Macro's Must Be Enabled" if macros are not enabled - and instruct the user to close & re-open with macros enabled... - this is a somewhat clunky but effective workaround.....

          Basically all sheets remain veryhidden if macros aren't enabled.... there is a macro in the worksheet_open event that unhides all sheets & hides the warning message sheet
