  • Runtime Error '53' File Not Found

    hi all,
I wrote a program in Excel that calls a form to load when an action happens on a spreadsheet page, the code I used to call the form from is

    Code:
     sqe_portal.UserForm_Initialize
however since upgrading to MSoffice 2003 i get the runtime error '53' file not found. the files still their...? any ideas?

    Thanks.
    Mathew.

    Mathew

Why are you calling the userform's Initialize event?

    Why not just use Show?

        Code:
        Private Sub Workbook_Open()
        sqe_portal.UserForm_Initialize
        End Sub
will try it with show now.

          nope.

the show command brings up the same error.

the code is in place to bring up the user form 'sql_portal' when the workbook is opened.

is their another way I can get the form to load on startup?

The code we need to see is the code for the Initialize event.

That could be where the error is actually happening.

                    No it's not.

That code calls the Initialize event, which is actually something I wouldn't recommend doing.

oh, umm well I have code in 2 places.
the code posted is placed in the work book open events section and the rest is placed in the form 'sqe_portal',

it seems the code in sqe_portal works fine, but i need it to load when the excel document is 1st loaded.

No, I think it's the form code causing the problem.

Nothing you've posted so far would cause the error you mention.

this is where the error keeps coming up..
I cant see why any code inside the form would prevent it from being called?

Did you want me to post the code to the form? theirs 700+ lines...

That code is not causing the error, it's probably the code in the Initialize event.

If that's the case then you won't be able to debug the code without changing the
options in the VBE under Tools>Options... to Break on All Errors.
