  • message box to warn of due date

ok so i need some help before i go crazy.
i did read the other thread about the popup message box but i still cannot get mine to work using hers as an example

i have a workbook that needs to popup a message box warning "Trespass Letter is Expiring" one month before the due date for the letter.
i need the macro to check the column F for the 'End Date' and minus a month so that one month before the due date you get a warning message.
    is this possible?
I've tried so many time to do this myself but im no expert in VB.

When do you want this to occur?

Could you please give some more information?

What do you want appear in the msgbox?

Do you want to check every row?

Perhaps you could attach a small sample workbook.

              Hi Newt,

While a VBA routine is certainly one option (especially if you specifically want the message box warning) have you considered simply using Conditional Formatting to flag the 'late' dates, for example by colouring the cell red?

If you want to try this select the data conerned and then choose ConditionalFormatting from the Format menu. Select 'Cell value is', 'less than', and then '=TODAY()-30' in the final box. Click on the Format button to select the appropriate indicator, eg Red background, then OK to apply.

              Just a thought

Just a thought... combine the message box warning and the conditional formating.

Use the conditional format to identify the rows needing letters sent. Use the message box when the workbook is opened to notify the user that anything from Column F that is read needs a letter.

                [code]

that works excellent...could you tell me how you formatted the cell though?
did you do the whole column?
thank you for all your work.

Re: message box to warn of due date

actually i need the conditional formatting to make the cell red for the entire month before the due date.
so lets say the due date is June 10 2005, i need the cell to turn red May 10th and stay red.
right now its not doing that if i put in June 7, 2005.
                        help please!

                          help please!
i can't get the conditional formatting to work right.
i need it to be like this
F6 (which is a date) minus one month >=todays date
                          something like that...
the due date which is entered in column F has to turn red one month before its due and stay red.

                            Hi Newt,

I'd like to help but ... I don't understand what you are trying to achieve.

You say that you want the cell flagged if the date is more than 30 days before today. So, why would the cell containing June 7th be flagged? Could you clarify this for me (us)?
