Is there any way to add binary numbers and inverse them using excel?

  • #2
You could convert binary to decimal by using the =bin2dec(a1) formula, add the numbers, then convert back with =dec2bin(a1)
    Hope this helps, Doug

I need to add the actual binary values and perform operations on the binary values

I've been doing a lot with binaries lately. I've been converting the base ten numbers to binary using dec2bin or some sort of looping function for conversion (tell me if you want the code). And then, since I've found that Excel can't handle numbers with more than 15 digits in them without forgetting the last few, I convert the binary string to an array. If you have two arrays, you should then be able to add them together, carry the two's, and manipulate however you wish. After that, it's fairly simple to convert back to base ten.
