  • how to create a cell pull-down menu

I was wondering how to create a pull-down menu with certain choices for a cell.

Is this possible in Excel? If so, how?

    Please Help!
    Thanks!!

Assuming you want the users to only choose from the selected list.

    Try using Data Validation.

Go to an area on your sheet and enter the list of valid choices

Then on the cell where you want the drop down list. Go into DATA - VALIDATION

In the ALLOW drop down box choose LIST

In the SOURCE area enter the cell ranges that have the list of valid choices.

This does not require any VBA code.

    Trust this helps

      Everything is possible in Excel

Sounds like you need the need for data validation

Put your choices in a vertical list somewhere (say A1:A10)

highlight them, goto "insert" then "name" then "define" and name your list (say "mylist") and ok out

now, goto the cell(s) you want your dropdown to appear and highlight it/them

      goto "data" then "validation"
in the settings tab, change "any value" to "list" and then change the scource to "=mylist" and okay out

      done

      :D

If you have a list in existence and it is on another sheet you will need to name it and refer to the range name instead of cell references.
