in excel when im writing a vba macro is thier something that i specify to only find numerical, or only find alpha characters?

what about in excel when im doing a odbc query?

I'm not sure what you are asking. In VBA the IsNumeric function can test whether something is a number or not. Is that what you want?

yea thats what i was wondering. ill read up on the IsNumeric function then...ive been wondering how to do that
