    Insert Symbol ®

    i would like to automate the inserting of the symbol ®...

    i can do in a cell as the first entry, but i can't do at the end of a string's entry in a cell...?

    VB:
    ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "®"

    or
    VB:
    ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "Schukas®"

    ???

    thank you.

    Re: Insert Symbol ®

    Not sure I understand the problem. Both examples create a cell with the ® symbol.

    FYI:

    Chr(174) = ®

    Cheers

    Curious. Works for me.

    What font is applied to your cell?

    Maybe you have a Window's font problem?

    All the examples work.
    VB:
    Sub test()
        ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "®"
        ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "Schukas®"
        ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "char(174)"
        ActiveCell.Value = "®"
        ActiveCell.Value = Chr(174)
    End Sub

    Re: Insert Symbol ®

    sorry for any confusion...

    as i entry a new word (in a cell), sometimes, i want to add the "®" at the end (of the new word--now always the same word...)

    i seemingly can't run the macro from within the cell in edit mode...???

    thank you...

    Re: Insert Symbol ®

    Why do you need a macro?

    To get ® just type ALT+0174 , using the numeric keypad.

    Re: Insert Symbol ®

    Of course you could use autocorrect method.
    Schukas(r)

    The (r) resolves to the CHAR(174).

    thank you...

    i have hundreds of these Registered names to enter--the insert symbol works, but gets tedious...

    i was looking for a shortcut to add the ® at the end of the data entry in a given cell...

    ???

    thanks.

    Not sure how much more automatic you can get with autocorrect. You can change it to anything you like.

    You can always copy one and then paste it as needed.

    Re: Insert Symbol ®

    Adding the ® symbol to a cell that already has existing text would be easy.
    VB:
    ActiveCell.Value = ActiveCell.Value & "®"

    You'd just assign a key-code shortcut for your macro.

    The problem here, however, is that you "probably" will want to add the registered-symbol immediately after entering the text in a cell.

    Of course, needless to say, while the cell is still active, you won't be allowed to activate a macro.

    The trick then would be to activate this key-code activated macro immediately after hitting the Enter key so that it changes the text in the above cell:

    VB:
    ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Range("A1").Value = _
    ActiveCell.Offset(-1, 0).Range("A1").Value & "®"
