Sort a Protected Worksheet

When I protect the worksheet I select allow users to Sort, but every time I try I get an error that the worksheet is protected. This is Excel 2003.

Any ideas?

Based on the Help information in Excel 2003, the Allow all users to Sort option in the Worksheet Protection dialog merely makes the Sort menu functions available. If you try to sort a range that has protected cells the sort will fail because of the protection.

yes, I have come to discover that. I moved the column with the protected cells to another location so the sort area was free of any protected columns.
