You can now calculate the distance between addresses stored in Microsoft Excel. Distances are calculated "as the crow flies" (not by actual driving distances) and are provided in miles. You can also get a list of zip codes that lie within a given distance of a target zip code.

Excel Zip Code Tools contains a complete database of zip code location information and two functions:
ZipCodeDistance(zip1, zip2) returns the distance in miles between two zip
codes in the United States. The format of the zip codes can be 5 digit, zip+4,
or you can drop a leading zero.
ZipCodesWithinDistance(zipcode, distance) returns an array of zip codes
that lie within the specified distance of the target zip code and the distances
to each of those zip codes. The zip codes returned are sorted by distance from
the target zip code, with the closest zip codes listed first. To activate an
array function in Excel, choose the range of cells for the output (you can
choose how many zip codes you want to see), enter the function, and press
SHIFT-CTRL-ENTER. Look up "using arrays" in the Excel help for more information
on entering array formulas.
When you install Excel Zip Code Tools, you will find two sample Excel files installed in c:\Program Files\Spheresoft\ZipCodeTools\samples\ that illustrates the use of these functions.
